Humana hits the road on Part D junket

U.S. health insurer Humana said Monday it will hit the road with eight RVs to promote its new Medicare Part D/Medicare Advantage plans.

Trumpeting the theme, “There’s so much more to Medicare. Let’s Talk,” Humana said its fleet of recreational vehicles will crisscross 34 states to reach seniors in senior and civic centers, as well as in certain Wal-Mart stores.

Humana and Wal-Mart are partners in promoting Humana’s Part D drug benefit plan.

The company said it particularly intends to use the junket to promote its new Medicare Advantage preferred provider organization (PPO) plan, as well as its private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans.

The PPO plans feature out-of-network benefits, while PFFS plans allow an enrollee access to any healthcare provider as long as that provider accepts Medicare reimbursement and Humana’s terms and conditions.

As part of the promotional tour, Humana said its Medicare advisers will be on hand to provide educational information on new health and prescription drug coverage options for 2007 and on which Medicare plan fits best with a particular person, based on his or her health, lifestyle and income.
